E.U. Environmental Problems Application and Research Center was established with the decision of the Ege University Senate dated 23.01.1990 and numbered 1/7 and the approval of the Higher Education Council dated 30.11.1989. Our Center Regulation came into force by being published in the Official Gazette dated 20.12.1990 and numbered 20731. While our Environmental Center continues its practical studies on environmental problems, the necessity of education and training has been emphasized, so with the studies carried out, in accordance with the organization and operating regulations of the graduate education institutes, E.Ü. It was decided by the Executive Board of YÖK on 25.02.1994 to open the "Department of Environmental Sciences" within the Institute of Science and Technology. As of this date, a graduate education program has been started in our center. The Doctoral Program affiliated to the Department was opened in 2017.

Admission and Registration Conditions
 
In the admission of students to the Environmental Sciences Doctorate Program, which is proposed to be opened, the following relevant articles of the "Higher Education Board Presidency Postgraduate Education Regulation" and "Aegean University Graduate Education Regulation" will be applied. Board of Higher Education Regulation on Graduate Education and Training Application and acceptance ARTICLE 16 – (1) In order to apply to the doctoral program, candidates must; a) They must have a master's degree with thesis and must have an ALES score to be determined by the relevant senate decision, provided that it is not less than 55 points in the score type of the program they are applying from. b) Faculties of medicine, dentistry, veterinary, pharmacy and preparatory classes must have a bachelor's degree of at least ten semesters or have a specialization in a laboratory branch according to the principles regulated by the Ministry of Health, and provided that the score of the program applied from ALES is not less than 55 points. They must have the ALES score to be determined. c) Applicants to a doctoral program with a bachelor's degree must have an ALES score determined by the Senate, provided that their undergraduate graduation grade point average is at least 3 out of 4 or an equivalent score, and not less than 80 points in the score type of the program they are applying from. In the admission of those who will apply to the doctorate program, in addition to the ALES score, the result of the written scientific evaluation exam and/or interview, and the graduate grade point average for those who apply with a master's degree can also be evaluated. Issues related to this evaluation, application conditions and other issues regarding student admission are determined by the regulation issued by the relevant senate. (2) Except for the preparatory classes, those who receive a ten-semester undergraduate education are deemed to have a master's degree.(3) The senate determines how much the ALES score will be evaluated, provided that it is not less than 50%. Higher education institution can accept students with only ALES score. Equivalent scores, which are accepted as equivalent to ALES and announced by the Council of Higher Education, can be increased with the decisions of the senate of each university. (5) In the admission of students to the doctoral program, it is obligatory to get at least 55 points from the international foreign language exams accepted as equivalent to the central foreign language exams accepted by the Higher Education Council other than their mother tongue, or an equivalent score from the international foreign language exams whose equivalence is accepted by OSYM, It is decided by the university senates to increase the minimum scores, if necessary, according to the characteristics of the programs to be entered. Ege University Graduate Education Regulations Application conditions and evaluation of applications ARTICLE 6 (1) The candidate must apply to the Institute Directorate by obtaining the candidate number from the internet and providing the necessary documents for the application within the period determined for the application. The candidate, who has completed the application procedures, enters the interview at the specified date, time and place together with the identity document and the interview entry document obtained from the Institute, and the placement score is calculated according to the principles specified in the regulation. (2) b) Those who have a bachelor's and/or master's degree and those who continue their undergraduate or graduate education but who can graduate at the end of that semester can apply to doctoral programs. c) While calculating the general success grade of the candidates who applied before graduation, the weighted grade point average (AGNO) of the last completed semester is taken as a basis. (3) If a grade point average of 100 is not specified in the transcript of undergraduate and graduate program graduates who apply to graduate programs; a) A system conversion chart of 100 approved by the relevant institution is accepted, provided that it belongs to the graduation period of the candidate. b) In case the grades given in the transcript according to different systems have a description range according to the 100 system, the lower limit of the range is converted to the 100 system by accepting the initial value. c) In the absence of the above-mentioned documents, the Higher Education Council's (YÖK) "4 Grades in the 100 System Equivalents" chart is used. Ege University grade conversion table is used for grades. (4) An English proficiency certificate is not required for applicants from Turkish or TRNC nationals who have graduated from an undergraduate program whose language of instruction is entirely English, to graduate programs that teach entirely in English.(5) The "Certificate of Turkish Proficiency" required for the admission of foreign nationals to the Institute Directorate as students must be at least at the "C" (Sufficient Turkish) level. This document is not time-limited. (8) Foreign national candidates applying to programs that teach entirely in a foreign language; b) For doctoral programs; A minimum score of 70 from YDS in English or an equivalent score from an exam accepted by UAK is required. c) An English proficiency certificate is not required from applicants who are citizens of countries whose native language is English and who have received their previous graduation degree from a higher education institution whose language of instruction is English. (9) In case the students who have registered by benefiting from the foreign student quota, subsequently acquire Turkish citizenship and the change in their personal information is reported to the Institute Directorate, the student registers are corrected and a diploma is prepared according to the new situation. However, student contribution and tuition fees continue to be collected in accordance with the rules governing foreign student status. (10) Among Turkish citizens who graduated from higher education institutions abroad, the applications of those who do not have an equivalence certificate, although they meet the other conditions, are accepted. However, candidates who have the right to register are registered conditionally. If the undergraduate and/or master's diplomas obtained from abroad are approved by YÖK, final registrations are made.

Graduation Requirements
 
For those who are accepted with a master's degree with thesis, excluding the time spent in scientific preparation, the doctoral program is eight semesters for each semester, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program they are enrolled in, regardless of whether they are registered or not, and the maximum completion period is twelve semesters; For those admitted with a bachelor's degree, ten semesters and the maximum completion period is fourteen semesters. For students who have been accepted to the doctoral program with a master's degree with thesis, a total of twenty-one credits and at least 240 ECTS credits, including at least seven courses, seminars, proficiency exams, thesis proposal and thesis work, provided that they are not less than 60 ECTS in one academic year. occurs. For students who have been accepted with a bachelor's degree, it consists of at least 300 ECTS credits, including 14 courses with at least forty-two credits, seminars, proficiency exam, thesis proposal and thesis work. A student in a doctoral program orally defends his thesis in front of a jury based on the results he has achieved in order to graduate. For graduation, the relevant articles of the "Higher Education Council Postgraduate Education Regulation" and the "Ege University Graduate Education Regulation" will be applied.
